Ravier Ends Electoral Career After Defeat

Stéphane Ravier, a former senator, has announced that his electoral and partisan career is over. This decision comes after his defeat in the recent senatorial elections. Ravier expressed his disappointment and surprise at the outcome, stating that he had not expected to lose by such a narrow margin.
Ravier attributed his defeat to the party label system, which he believes played a significant role in the election. He noted that despite his efforts to build personal relationships with mayors and voters, the party label ultimately took precedence. Ravier also mentioned that some voters were dissuaded from supporting him due to his lack of affiliation with a major party.
Pendant six ans, Ravier a rencontré les maires, participé aux cérémonies de vœux, partagé des aïolis et des soupes au pistou, mais aussi et surtout travaillé sur des dossiers concrets. Il a notamment défendu des propositions sur la loi SRU.
Ravier’s decision to leave partisan politics does not mean that he will abandon his political convictions. He stated that he will continue to speak out on issues that matter to him, without being bound by party affiliations or constraints.
Ravier also expressed his pride in having contributed to the “droitisation” of the Senate, a shift towards more conservative politics. Ravier’s experience in the Senate has also given him a unique perspective on the role of the RN (National Rally) party.
