Welsh charities offered £270,000 funding boost
Welsh charities and community groups are invited to apply for a share of £270,000 in funding through two initiatives launched by Principality Building Society. The Future Generations Fund and the Retrofit for the Future Fund aim to support projects that deliver long-term benefits to local communities across Wales. These funds, delivered in partnership with Community Foundation Wales, provide grants to help charities, community groups, and social enterprises deliver meaningful, long-term impact in their local areas.
Supporting Future Generations
The Future Generations Fund (FGF) supports organisations and projects focused on improving outcomes for children and young people. This year, it totals £185,000 and builds on its previous success, having distributed over £2 million to charities and community groups since 2022.
Previous recipients include Cariad Communities CIC, which was supported to tackle social isolation, help families, and build healthier communities in Neath Port Talbot; Stepping Stones North Wales, which provides one-to-one counselling for survivors of childhood trauma across North Wales; and Rhondda Netball, which helps girls become coaches and role models through qualifications and training.
Retrofitting for Sustainability
The Retrofit for the Future Fund supports organisations seeking to improve the energy efficiency of community buildings through retrofit measures or the purchase of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient equipment. This year’s fund makes £85,000 available in grants for eligible projects. The fund is intended to help organisations take practical steps to reduce running costs, lower carbon emissions, and make community spaces more sustainable for the future.

Applications for both funds close on Monday, 5 October 2026.
